Community Appreciation Day rescheduled
BEMIDJ I -- Bemidji State University's eighth annual Community Appreciation Day has been rescheduled for 3 to 6 p.m. Sept. 14 on campus.
Directly following the event will be BSU's home football opener against Concordia University-St. Paul.
Visitors of Community Appreciation Day who are interested in attending the football game are encouraged to buy tickets in advance to avoid ticket lines at the stadium.
Advance tickets are available by calling 441-4018, visiting the Bob Lowth Ford Pickup Window at the Sanford Center, at both Lueken's Village Foods locations or at ticketmaster.com.
Sanford healthy cooking classes set
BEMIDJI -- Sanford Health and Johnna Nynas, a fourth-year medical student from the University of Minnesota, will instruct two Healthy Cooking for Healthy Communities classes Sept. 10 and 12.
Healthy Cooking and Men's Healthy Cooking will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 10 at Harmony Food Co-op community kitchen, 302 Irvine Ave. NW.
Healthy Cooking in College is set for 5 to 7 p.m. Sept. 12 at the same location.

Tickets on sale for Blue Man Group
BEMIDJI-- Tickets are now on sale to see the Blue Man Group at 7 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Sanford Center. Cost is $30, $45 or $60.
Tickets may be purchased at the Ford Pickup Windows at the Sanford Center, 1111 Event Center Dr., any Lueken's Village Foods Ticketmaster retail location, online at www.ticketmaster.com or by phone (800) 745-3000.
Repaving entrance to LBSP begins Sept. 9
BEMIDJI -- The entrance to Lake Bemidji State Park will be closed Sept. 9 through 14 while it is being repaved. A temporary alternate entrance will be located at the Pinewood Trail crossing on County Road 20.
The trail crossing will serve as the entrance and exit to the park until a single, gravel lane of the new entrance is open. The temporary single lane will then serve as the entrance and the trail crossing will serve as the exit.
The road will be repaved from the entrance of the park to the gate at the park office.
Construction is expected to be completed by Oct. 1. The park and campground will remain open for entire construction period.

Desserts by Design
BEMIDJI -- Sunday is the last day to purchase tickets for Desserts by Design, a fundraising gala for the Bemidji Symphony Orchestra's 75th Anniversary. The event will be held 6:30 p.m. Sept. 13 at the Sanford Center.
It will feature a variety of desserts on designed tables with entertainment provided by BSO members. There will also be a silent and live auction.
