Material of Native treaties developed

EDEN PRAIRIE — “Why Treaties Matter: Self-Government in the Dakota and Ojibwe Nations,” a traveling exhibit that explores Native nations in Minnesota and their history of treaty making in the U.S., is on view for the second time in less than a year at Eden Prairie High School’s Performing Arts Center in Eden Prairie. An opening reception is planned May 23.

The award-winning exhibition is comprised of 20 freestanding banners with evocative text, historical and contemporary photographs and maps. The exhibit has travelled to nearly 40 different venues including Minnesota’s 11 Indian reservations.

Classroom material has recently been developed from themes explored in the exhibition. Eden Prairie High School is serving as the first pilot site with two or three educator guides.
