First National Bank seeks to sponsor student for Minnesota Business Venture

First National Bank Bemidji wishes to sponsor a Bemidji High School student to attend BestPrep's Minnesota Business Venture program this summer.

MBV is an opportunity for students who are seeking career direction, interested in starting their own business or simply interested in learning and meeting new people.

At MBV, students work in mock companies led by business professionals who help facilitate and mentor the students. Each company develops a product idea, splits into marketing, finance and operations teams and writes a business plan. Students have the opportunity to listen to knowledgeable speakers on a variety of topics such as finance, ethics, marketing and international business.

Students also participate in a mock interview, improve networking skills and participate in breakout sessions led by industry experts. Through MBV, students gain leadership, teamwork and presentation skills while learning and meeting new friends. MBV also looks great on college applications or a resume.

MBV will be hosted by the G.R. Herberger College of Business at St. Cloud State University July 10-15 and by the Donald McNeely Center for Entrepreneurship at St. John's University July 24-29. The students will stay in camps dorms.

Due to sponsors such as First National Bank Bemidji, students selected for MBV each receive a program sponsorship and will only be responsible for a $125 registration fee (this fee increases to $175 after April 22). Additional assistance is available.

Interested students can get an application at First National Bank Bemidji or by visiting the MBV program page at For details, contact Janae Olinger, Minnesota Business Venture associate, at 763-398-0090, ext. 231, or
