Victim of fatal crash near Climax identified

CLIMAX, Minn. – State troopers have released the name of a Neilsville man who died in a crash Tuesday morning, Oct. 10,  in northwest Minnesota.

Jason Jerome Nelson, 36, died after the 1999 Chevrolet Blazer he was driving hit a 1993 GMC Aero semi just before 7 a.m., according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The semi driven by 21-year-old Dalton Brian Fredrickson of Thief River Falls was stopped on U.S. Highway 75 about 2 miles south of Climax, the patrol said.

Nelson was not wearing a seat belt, the patrol said. Fredrickson was wearing his seat belt and was not injured.

Climax is 17 miles southwest of Crookston.
