Duluth man in critical condition after shooting

A 27-year-old man remained in critical but stable condition at a Duluth hospital Sunday afternoon, after he was wounded by a gunshot to the chest in the city’s Lincoln Park neighborhood the previous day.

Duluth police reported that officers were called to a residence in the 2200 block of West Second Street about 3:15 a.m. Saturday. They found the victim with a single, life-threatening gunshot wound to the chest.

An initial investigation revealed that a resident of the home had hosted a gathering early Saturday. After the victim — who was not a resident of the home — was shot, the suspects fled the area. Police are searching for multiple suspects in the case.

Police said the shooting does not appear to have been a random incident. The victim’s name has not yet been released.

Police continued to follow leads Sunday and asked that anyone with information about the shooting call 911.
