App launched for flood condition reporting

FARGO – The International Water Institute has released a new mobile app that allows anyone to report on flooding, snow pack, ice jams and the status of sandbag dikes prior to and during Red River Basin spring flooding.

The app, called CRED, is designed to allow users to quickly and easily submit photos and observations directly from the field for review by partners at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, National Weather Service and other agencies.

All users need to participate is an existing Twitter, Google or Facebook account. Contributed reports and images can be viewed on an interactive map integrated into the app.

To participate, go online to with a smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop.
