LLTC Anwebiwin Powwow scheduled

CASS LAKE – The Leech Lake Tribal College’s Anwebiwin Powwow will be Saturday at the Cass Lake-Bena High School.

Grand Entries are at 1 and 6:30 p.m. Dancer registration is from noon to 2 p.m. and 5:30-7 p.m. Drum registration opens at noon and will accept 15 drums. There must be at least five singers per drum and there will be a drum contest special.

The Master of Ceremony is Animiki; Spiritual Advisor is Mike Smith; and Arena Director is Darryl Kingbird. For vendor information, contact Flower Kingbird at (218) 335-4224.

Carnivore potluck planned at Harmony

BEMIDJI – Harmony Co-op will host a Carnivore/Hunter Potluck from 6-8 p.m. Thursday in their community kitchen.

Bring a meat or fish dish to share with other participants. Plates, cups and flatware will be provided. Sign up at the front till beforehand.

Autism awareness event planned

BEMIDJI – Knockout Fitness will host an autism awareness fitness event from 7:45-10:30 a.m. Saturday.

The event will feature yoga and zumba classes and participants are encouraged to wear blue for autism awareness month. Free will donations will be accepted for each class. All proceeds will support Arc United, which provides information for people with developmental disabilities and their families and connects them with resources. They advocate self-reliance, empowerment and choices for people with developmental disabilities.

Chastek helps at BGC fundraiser today

CASS LAKE – Chamber member Dickie Chastek of Devin Boy Foods is donating time and food for a fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club at 5 p.m. today at Cadillac’s Northstar Grill.

Chastek will be serving walleye fish and chips. One filet is $4 and two filets are $8. Food will be available to go.

Hot Topics meeting on laughter today

BEMIDJI – Sanford Bemidji Diabetes Resource Center (DRC) is hosting its monthly Hot Topics meeting from 4-5 p.m. today in Conference Room C at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.

Kevin Cease will present Laughter Yoga and provide insights on how to live lighter and let go of heavy burdens. Laughter Yoga is a simulated body exercise that incorporates eye contact and unconditional laughter. The concept is based on the scientific fact that the body cannot differentiate between fake and real laughter.
