Power outages reported as high winds hit Duluth
DULUTH, Minn. (AP) — Power outages have affected more than 2,100 Minnesota Power customers in Duluth as high winds rake the Twin Ports.
Winds at the Duluth harbor were gusting out of the northeast in excess of 50 mph this morning, and snow was expected to start falling in the Twin Ports by mid- to late morning.
The Duluth News Tribune says Minnesota Power's online outage reporting system indicated about two dozen separate outages in the Duluth area.
The College of St. Scholastica is among the customers that lost power, and the school canceled classes until 10 a.m. The cause of that outage was reported to be a tree on a power line.
