Longville man gets 20-year sentence for stabbing death

WALKER – A 25-year-old Longville man has been ordered to spend 20 years in prison for a stabbing at his home last year.

Frank Jesse LaRose received the sentence Thursday. He previously pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the Feb. 5, 2012, stabbing of James Raymond Elmberg, 31, of Walker.

During LaRose’s plea hearing in February, LaRose said he, Elmberg and others had been drinking at LaRose’s home near Longville.

“During the course of the night LaRose and another individual began to argue and Elmberg intervened,” a news release issued by the Cass County Attorney’s OFfice states. “LaRose stated that he perceived that Elmberg was lunging at him and struck him in the chest with a knife. LaRose stated that he did not intend to kill Elmberg.”
