House fire causes $25,000 worth of damage

BEMIDJI – A house fire caused $25,000 worth of damage Tuesday night, but resulted in no injuries.

The fire department was called to the 700 block of Irvine Avenue Northwest at 7:01 p.m. Tuesday by the home’s occupants, according to a press release from the Bemidji fire department.

When firefighters arrived, they found smoke coming out of the home and a fire in the kitchen.

Nineteen firefighters used two fire engines and a ladder truck to extinguish the flames. The fire department was on the scene for about two hours.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but it appears to be accidental.

The fire department was assisted by the Bemidji police department and Otter Tail Power Co.
