Panthers sweep W-DC in baseball

Zach Lehrke's six RBI during a 13-run first inning helped the Park Rapids baseball team sweep a Mid-State Conference doubleheader from Wadena-Deer Creek Tuesday at the Area High School field.

In the first game, Justin Peterson's two-run home run and RBI doubles by Tom Juberian and Lehrke sparked a 14-8 victory. In the second game, Lehrke's two-run double and grand-slam homer in the first inning led to a 16-1 rout in five innings. Lehrke finished with seven RBI and Juberian and Grant Dierkhising had two RBI each to back the combined no-hitter by Eli Donatelle and Kyle Blanchard.

In other Park Rapids sports events Tuesday:

Wadena-Deer Creek swept Park Rapids by scores of 20-15 and 17-7 in a Mid-State Conference fastpitch softball doubleheader at Wadena.

The Park Rapids boys tennis team blanked Wadena-Deer Creek 7-0 in a Mid-State Conference meet at the Depot Courts.
