First Lutheran Gospel Service and Block Party
BEMIDJI—First Lutheran Church in Bemidji will be holding its annual Gospel service along with the third annual Block Party on Sunday, Sept. 9.
The Gospel service will feature Kenny Whelan and will also feature music such as "I'll Fly Away", "Unclouded Day", "Just a Closer Walk", "When The Roll is Called Up Yonder" and more.
Services are at 8:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.
After the second service, all are invited to First Lutheran's Block Party, which will be held noon to 3 p.m.
The event will feature free food (brats), along with free entertainment and fun for the whole family. There will be yard games, a dunk tank and car show, along with the theme of "God's Work, Our Hands," and will feature a bike clinic, where people can receive a free "tune up" for their bikes, and there also will be several bike helmets given away.
A second service opportunity will be a "Blizzard Bag" station. First Lutheran is a part of Lutheran Social Services Meals on Wheels Program, where meals are provided to homebound residents Monday- Friday. The "Blizzard Bags" to be assembled include a non-perishable meal. The Blizzard Bags will then be delivered this fall before the winter season to residents who are a part of the Meals on Wheels Program. These will serve as an emergency back up for food in case a blizzard does not allow meals to be delivered one day during the winter.
A third service project as part of "God's Work, Our Hands," will be a clean up of Greenwood Cemetery. At 1 p.m., a shuttle will take people from First Lutheran's parking lot to Greenwood Cemetery, where the crew will spend an hour helping to clean up the cemetery grounds.

Bemidji Area Aglow meets Saturday
BEMIDJI—Bemidji Area Aglow will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at Beltrami Electric Cooperative, 4111 Technology Drive NW.
September's speaker will be Sissie Pennel, executive director of the Northwoods Pregnancy Center. Pennel's favorite scripture verse is Esther 4:14 where Mordecai asks Esther, "...and who knows whether you have come to this kingdom for such a time as this?" She uses this verse to encourage and challenge people to take up the "Esther Calling"-- to take a step of faith and to help protect the unborn child, their families and those in need of services, a release said.
Trinity Lutheran Church plans open house
CASS LAKE—Trinity Lutheran Church will host a youth and community open house from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 9. The event will include hamburgers, hotdogs, as well as a number of activities, such as face painting, ring toss, cornhole and yard Jenga, among others, according to a press release. Trinity Lutheran Church is located at 6810 Highway 2 W.
Blackduck Community Meal on Sept. 10

St. Ann's Fall Festival on Sept. 16
BLACKDUCK—The St. Ann's Fall Festival will be held 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, at the church hall. They will be serving at pork loin dinner, dressing, mashed potatoes with gravy, vegetables, buns, homemade pie and beverage. Cost is $10 for adults; $5 for children ages 6 to 12 and younger children are free. There also will be crafts, baked goods and produce and a cake walk. The raffle drawing also will be held at the festival.
Sacred Heart Church hosts chicken ham dinner
WILTON—Sacred Heart Church will host its 82nd annual chicken and ham dinner bazaar, bake sale and silent auction from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 16. The cost is $11 for adults 13 and older, $5 for children 6-12, and free for children under 6. Sacred Heart Church is located at 135 Third St.
First Presbyterian plans meal Sept. 17
BLACKDUCK—The First Presbyterian Church of Blackduck will hold its first community meal of the fall season on Monday, Sept. 17, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. This free meal is open to everyone in the community.
Polka Mass and Chicken Dinner in Kelliher
KELLIHER—St. Patrick's Catholic Church's Polka Mass and Chicken Dinner will be held 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30. Mass will be at 10:15 a.m. Music by the Cathy Erickson Band. Cost is $10 for adults; $5 for children ages 6 and older and free for children 5 and younger. There also will be a Farmers Market and Bake Sale. Trinity Free Lutheran Ham Dinner
WILTON—Trinity Free Lutheran Church, 6 miles north of U.S. Highway 2 on state Highway 89, will hold its annual Ham Supper from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22. There will be a freewill offering.
Feast of Tabernacles at Mount Zion
BEMIDJI—Mount Zion Church and Becida Community Church of Bemidji invite everyone to a special time of worship, celebration and ministry during the Feast of Tabernacles, Friday, Sept. 28, and Saturday, Sept. 29.
On Friday evening and all day Saturday there will be a "Feast of Faith, Food, and Fellowship" at Mount Zion Church, 414 Lincoln Ave. SE in the Nymore neighborhood of Bemidji.
Guest speakers are Chuck Porta of Ram's Horn Ministries and Calvin Woods of Harvest Praise International. Main sessions are 7 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday. On Saturday afternoon, there also will be several breakout sessions including "Prophetic Mysteries of the Feasts" with Reggie Kelly and outreach training by Revive Minnesota. Meatball dinner at Trinity on Oct. 7
BEMIDJI—The 16th annual Meatball Dinner and silent auction at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bemidji will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7.
The menu will be meatballs with all the trimmings, including squash and pie. Cost is $10 for adults; $5 for children ages 6 and older and free from children age 5 and younger. Tickets will be available at the door. A silent auction to benefit TLC Preschool and Growing Tree Learning Center will also be held.
