Trinity Lutheran plans meatball dinner
DEBS—The annual meatball dinner in Debs will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 5, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 26685 Debs Road NW. The meal will include meatballs and mashed potatoes with all the trimmings, including homemade breads and pies. There will also be live music, a craft and bake sale and drawings. There will be a free-will donation.
BACM presents scholarship recipients
BEMIDJI—The Bemidji Area Church Musicians Summer Recital Series will feature the 2017 BACM scholarship recipients at noon on Wednesday, Aug. 1, at Evangelical Free Church, 115 Carr Lake Road SW. The recipients include Evan Byler, Lilia Kastner, and Sophie Warrick. Byler will perform three pieces for tenor voice including "If With All your Hearts" by Mendelssohn with Kenneth J. Wold on piano. Kastner will play four hymn arrangements for piano. Warrick will perform the folk hymn "Shenandoah" and Vittorio Monti's "Czardas" on violin.
A luncheon will follow the 30 minute concert with a price to be announced. For the past 22 years, the free-will offerings have been used to grant scholarships to students beginning their college music careers. • Aug. 29: First Lutheran Church—Turtle Island Ensemble: Sarah Carlson, piano; Sonja Connell, cello; Jon Romer, native flute; Bob Madeson, euphonium; Mike Tangen, guitar.
Zion Lutheran Church plans VBS
BLACKDUCK—Zion Lutheran Church will host vacation Bible school from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, July 30, through Thursday, Aug. 2. It will include outdoor games, crafts, snacks, music and sacred stories, according to a press release. It is open to children in K-6th grades. Debs Trinity Lutheran church will have worship service on Saturday, Aug. 4 at 7 p.m. There will be no Sunday services.
