Best MN Town party set for June 27

BEMIDJI -- The Best MN Town Celebration, co-hosted by Minnesota Monthly magazine and Visit Bemidji, will be held on Wednesday, June 27.

Hours are 5 to 9 p.m. at Paul Bunyan Park in Bemidji, organizers said. The event will be held in conjunction with the Mississippi Music at the Bemidji Waterfront.

Festivities will include live music on Mississippi Music’s waterfront stage, exhibitors, photo opportunities and and family activities, organizers said in a release Tuesday.

This party is being held to commemorate Bemidji being named Minnesota Monthly magazine’s Best Minnesota Town 2017. The magazine’s inaugural competition sought to find and celebrate the town that best embodies the “Spirit of Minnesota,” the release said. Towns were evaluated by quality of life, economic development opportunity, tourism and a public voting forum.

Bemidji was awarded the title of Best MN Town 2017 at a special announcement event in Minneapolis in November.

For winning the contest, Bemidji received a multi-page editorial feature in Minnesota Monthly, a media campaign valued at $50,000 and a community party.
