BEMIDJI—The BSU Brass Quintet will perform a selection of songs on Sunday, Jan. 11, during the two worship services at First Lutheran Church.
The worship services will be held at 8:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. at the church, 900 Bemidji Ave. N. The group will perform selections from Giovanni Gabrieli and George Frideric Handel.
"Gabrieli was the resident composer at the most famous church in Venice, Italy," BSU Music Professor Del Lyren said. He went on to explain that in spite of the large output, much of Gabrieli's music hasn't been performed in the local area.
"We're trying to provide the community with some music that they haven't had a chance to hear in a long time," Lyren said.
First Lutheran Church recently completed the installation process of a new organ, which was part of a larger reconstruction of the church's sanctuary.
In addition to performing for the church services, the quintet will host a concert at the church at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 22.
