Two plead not guilty to robbery charges
BEMIDJI—Two people accused of punching and robbing a woman in mid-January pleaded not guilty to the robbery Monday.
Alexis Rae Rodriquez, 23, of Cass Lake and Jordan Lee Drouillard, 24, of Bemidji, both appeared in court Monday morning. Rodriquez pleaded not guilty to one count of simple robbery. Drouillard pleaded not guilty to one count of simple robbery and one count of second-degree possession of heroin.
Rodriquez and Drouillard are among four people charged with the robbery. Vincent George Cobenais, 30, of Red Lake, pleaded not guilty to the charge Jan. 29. Information about Ryanne Lee Cook's 10:30 a.m. hearing was not immediately available.
The group was arrested Jan. 16, the day of the robbery. According to a criminal complaint, the victim had been riding in a car with Drouillard, Rodriquez, Cobenais and Cook when Drouillard accused her of stealing his cell phone.
Drouillard allegedly turned down a back road and tried to take the victim's purse. Cook is accused of saying "green light" and punching the victim, at which point the other three joined in.
The victim was dragged out of the car. The group then allegedly drove away with her purse.
Cobenais is set to appear in court for a pretrial hearing Tuesday and both Drouillard's and Rodriquez's next court dates are scheduled for March 13.
