Grand Forks man charged with engaging in sexual acts with minor
CROOKSTON, Minn. -- A Grand Forks man is facing criminal sexual conduct charges after East Grand Forks police arrested him Wednesday for engaging in sexual acts with a minor.
George Robert Lyons, 35, was charged in Polk County District Court in Crookston with first- and second-degree criminal sexual conduct, both felonies.
The charges stem from claims he had oral sex and inappropriately touched a person under 16 years of age with whom Lyons had a "significant relationship," according to court documents. The incident occurred Jan. 20, 2014, at an East Grand Forks residence, according to a criminal complaint.
In 2012 and 2013, an East Grand Forks high school social worker and Polk County social worker became concerned over the minor's welfare who spent time with Lyons at the residence, according to a criminal complaint.
Lyons has an initial appearance scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday in Polk County District Court.
