United Way: Annual campaign needs help to reach goal

BEMIDJI – This week, the United Way of Bemidji Area announced it had reached 86 percent of its fundraising goal for this year’s campaign.

The United Way had raised $349,278 as of Wednesday. This year’s goal is $405,000.

“We set a financial goal to reflect some of the need in our community,” Kristi Booth, United Way Campaign Chair, said in a news release. “Each donation, large or small, makes a difference for those in need.”

In addition to helping fund area non-profit agencies, the United Way of Bemidji Area also administers the Backpack Buddies Food Pack program, currently available at Central, JW Smith, Lincoln, and Solway elementary schools and through the ISD No. 31 Homeless Liaison.

This fall, the United Way hosted a successful Coats for the Community program and is currently accepting monetary donations and gifts for Holiday Gifts for Kids.
