Public forums on referendum question planned
BEMIDJI – The Bemidji school board will hold four public forums in the coming weeks to discuss the referendum question on this year’s election ballot.
The Board of Education has set the following four dates for forums:
-- 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the cafeteria at Lincoln Elementary.
-- 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, in the cafeteria at Bemidji Middle School.
-- 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, in the commons area at Bemidji High School.
-- 7-9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, in the cafeteria at Northern Elementary.
The forums will provide information on school-funding trends in Minnesota and the status of the district’s current referendum. Public comment will be taken on the upcoming referendum.
Voters will be asked Nov. 6 whether they support renewal of a $501-per-pupil levy. The levy has funded all-day, every-day kindergarten, new buses and has helped keep class sizes down.
