Funding for government lapses as short-term spending bill stalls in the Senate

Blackduck High School softball team announces fundraiser

The Blackduck varsity and junior high softball teams have teamed up with Coaches vs. Cancer to host a hit-a-thon April 21 to raise money for cancer awareness. You can sponsor a member of the softball team for an amount per foot of the hit or you can name a set amount that you are willing to donate. Each player will receive five attempts or swings.

Coaches vs. Cancer is a program that empowers coaches, their team and communities to make a difference in the fight against cancer. They have helped raise significant money and awareness for the American Cancer Society.

The hit-a-thon will begin on the varsity softball field at 11 a.m. April 21. Hot dogs, chips and a pop may be purchased for $1.00. All money raised from this event will go to the American Cancer Society. Following the hit-a-thon the athletes will play their parents in a softball game.
