Police Report

The Bemidji Police Department responded to the following reports:


11:44 p.m. Friday, Minnesota Avenue Northwest. Suspicious persons running through alley. Subjects located and charged with fleeing on foot and minor consumption of alcohol.

11 p.m., Algoma Street Northwest. A male juvenile was reportedly yelling in the street. The juvenile was located and said he had been singing with headphones on. He agreed to quiet down.

8:53 a.m. Friday, Beltrami Avenue Northwest. It was reported that a van had pulled up next to a child walking home from Central Elementary School the night before. No words were exchanged and the child ran from the scene.

4:19 p.m. Thursday, Herberger's. Suspicious males passing around a cigarette.

Disturbing the peace

11:11 p.m. Friday, America Avenue Northwest. Subjects being loud outside building. Verbal warning for noise.

9:42 p.m. Friday, 2500 block of Park Avenue Northwest. Party complaint. Verbal warning for noise.

9:11 p.m. Friday, 500 block of Second Street Southeast. Loud music. Verbal warning issued to renter.

7:28 p.m. Friday, Bixby Avenue Northeast. Group gathering in front yard playing yard games. Advised of disorderly house ordinance, but was not in violation.

3:14 a.m. Friday, Ridgeway Avenue Northwest. Loud noise complaint. Two women arrested.


10:16 p.m. Friday, Paul Bunyan Drive Northwest. A man reported the theft of a cell phone.

3:19 p.m. Friday, Paul Bunyan Drive Northwest. Theft of skateboard reported.

7:29 p.m. Thursday, Walmart. A male individual was cited for shoplifting.


7:54 p.m. Friday, Washington Avenue South. Missing Domino's car topper located and returned.

Welfare check

7:38 p.m. Friday, Lake Bemidji/Mississippi River. Three young girls were seen on Lake Bemidji near open water by the Mississippi River.

Family crimes

5:39 p.m. Friday, Seventh Street Northwest. Child abuse was reported.

Violations/court orders

4:46 p.m. Friday, 15th Street Northwest. Unwanted phone calls were reported.


4:24 p.m. Friday, Birchmont Drive. Several dogs reported running at large. Owner cited.

10:30 a.m. Friday, 23rd Street Northwest. Cat caught in trap.


2:42 p.m. Friday, Paul Bunyan Drive Northwest. Fraudulent checks sent to customer to deposit in their account and then send a money order to another person. No money exchanged hands.

Disorderly conduct

1:58 p.m. Friday, McDonald's South. Officers removed intoxicated individuals.

2:17 a.m. Friday, Toasty Beavers. Two subjects were attempting to urinate in the parking lot across from the bar. Verbal warnings issued.

2:05 a.m. Thursday, Toasty Beavers. Intoxicated female individual causing disturbance. Individual was removed without incident.

Ordinance violations

1:12 p.m. Friday, 1000 block of Irvine Avenue Northwest. Complaint of excessive trash in yard.


12:50 p.m. Friday, Fourth Street Northwest. Woman reported domestic assault; male suspect was not located.

8:11 a.m. Thursday, 26th Street Northwest. Charges filed for two counts of domestic assault.


8:332 a.m. Friday. Neighbor concerned about people being in a foreclosed residence.


3:30 p.m. Thursday, Bemidji Avenue North. Officers responded to a single-vehicle crash in which a pedestrian was struck.

Gas drive-off theft

2:50 p.m. Thursday, Jack'Stop.

Property damage

7:51 a.m. Thursday, 100 block of Minnesota Avenue Northwest. Graffiti.


12:37 a.m. Thursday, Irvine Avenue Northwest. Man reported his fiancé had received a threatening text message.

Sheriff's Report

The Beltrami County Sheriff's Office responded to the following reports:


10:02 p.m. Friday, Theater Lane Northwest. A man was arrested for assaulting two women.


9:19 p.m., Three Island Road Northeast. A person fell into open water in the "narrows" of Three Island Lake. A request was made to publicize poor ice conditions on area lakes.


7:54 p.m. Friday, Division Street West. Report of uncontrolled bonfire. Small attended campfire located by deputies.

Weapons offenses

7:25 p.m. Friday, Archery Road Northwest. Report of shooting sounds. Shots were heard miles away in woods. Sounded like target practice; nothing needed.

Disturbing the peace

7:09 p.m. Friday, Ironwood Lane Northwest. Noise complaint. Music playing in car. Advised to keep sound down.


4:26 p.m. Friday, Blom Road Northwest. Assisted DNR with fire. No action taken.


3:19 p.m. Friday, Cass Lake. Neighbor dispute over property lines led to accusations of theft, causing argument.

Security check

1:25 p.m. Friday, Peaceful Meadow Lane Southeast. Caller requested extra patrol at business due to two suspicious male individuals who entered the store, checked firearm inventory and left. Similar to last burglary when multiple firearms were stolen.


12:42 p.m. Friday, Bemidji Avenue North. Domestic assault with strangulation. Suspect departed in vehicle.

Property damage

8:15 p.m. Thursday, Puposky. Mailboxes damaged on Great Divide Road and Lindgren Road. Suspect vehicles described as two-door white car with taillight out and loud exhaust and black Chevy Blazer with tinted windows.

Vehicle calls/complaints

7:37 p.m. Thursday, Grygla. Grygla Fire reported burned-out abandoned vehicle on Grade School Road in Minnie Township, Fourtown.


7:06 p.m. Thursday, Blackduck. Caller did not receive prescription medication that was supposed to be mailed.

7:51 a.m. Thursday, Knife River Materials. Theft of 150 feet of copper welding leads.


5:17 a.m. Thursday, Cass Lake. Deputies dispatched to physical domestic disturbance. Unable to locate.

12:28 a.m. Thursday, Blackduck. Domestic disturbance. Female individual arrested.


2:33 a.m. Thursday, Cass Lake. Vehicle pursuit in Cass County entered Beltrami County briefly before going back into Cass County. Vehicle crashed. Assisted Cass County Sheriff's Office and Leech Lake Police.


4:59 p.m. Thursday, Waskish. Theft of tools from garage.


2:56 p.m. Thursday, Kelliher. House photographed at mortgage holder's request.

8:25 a.m. Thursday, Supreme Court Northwest. No-contact order reported. Unfounded; parties passed on roadway in front of one party's residence.
