Patrol identifies victim in crash west of Fisher

FISHER, Minn. - The State Patrol says it believes alcohol was a factor in a fatal crash early Friday on U.S. Highway 2 west of Fisher at milepost 13.

A pickup driven by Daniel D. Johnson, 21, was stopped facing the wrong way in the eastbound lane at about 2:16 a.m. when an eastbound vehicle driven by Darcey J. Jablonski, 39, of Crookston struck the wrongway pickup head-on, the patrol stated in a news release.

Jablonski died at the scene. Johnson suffered injuries that were not life threatening.

The patrol believes Johnson had been drinking.

Weather conditions at the time were foggy with very limited visibility, the release stated.

The East Grand Forks Police Department and Polk County Sheriff 's Office assisted with the crash.

Sgt. Jesse Grabow said by Friday morning the patrol had responded to 92 crashes across the state in the previous 24 hours, 30 of them in the Detroit Lakes-based region that includes Moorhead. Of those crashes in the region, five caused injuries, he said.
