Week of Jan. 10-13

TUESDAY, Jan. 10 - Cheeseburger, baked beans, fries, mixed fruit, milk variety.

WEDNESDAY, Jan. 11 - Chicken nuggets, mashed potatoes with gravy, broccoli slaw, mandarin oranges, bread slice, milk variety.

THURSDAY, Jan. 12 - Mini corndogs, mac and cheese, green beans, pineapple, bread slice, milk variety.

FRIDAY, Jan. 13 - Fajita chicken with vegetables, tortilla, lettuce, cheese, salsa and sour cream, corn, peaches, bread slice, milk variety.


Tuesday: Junior high, JV and varsity boys basketball at home against Deer River. Junior high and JV start at 6 p.m. and varsity starts at 7:30 p.m.; wrestling will be at Pine River at 6 p.m.

Thurdsay: Junior high, JV and varsity boys basketball will be at Baudette against Lake of the Woods. Junior high begins at 5:30 p.m., JV at 6 p.m. and varsity at 7:30 p.m.

Friday: JV and varsity boys basketball at home against Walker at 6 and 7:30 p.m.; JV and varsity girls basketball at home against Walker at 6 and 7:30 p.m. and varsity wrestling at Mahnomen for a dual tournament beginning at 4 p.m.

Saturday: Wrestling at Bemidji for the Rick Lee at 9 a.m.

Minnesota Association of Townships: Juniors who plan to further their education at a college, university, or vocational school. Deadline: May 1.

Friends of Sanford Health Scholarship: Seniors pursuing a career in a health related field, and not have been a previous recipient. Deadline March 15.

B. Davis Scholarship: More information can be found on-line at Deadline May 28.

Reuben Youngerberg Memorial Biodiesel Essay Scholarship: Seniors who plan on pursuing a postsecondary education and write a 1000 word essay. Deadline March 30.

Minnesota Athletes in Sports Medicine Scholarship: Seniors athletes who intends to attend college to pursue a career in sports medicine. Deadline May 15.

Knights of Columbus: Senior Catholic Students. Deadline April 1.

Evelyn and Jim Schram: Seniors who are accepted into an institution of higher education. Deadline: March 15.

Important Dates for the Month of January:

Jan. 20: End of second quarter.

Jan. 23: 6 p.m., Financial Aid Night for juniors, seniors, and parents in high school computer lab.

Jan. 31: Fieldstone financial aid information for ninth through 12th graders and parents.

Community Ed

Wednesday Night Volleyball will be held from 7-9 p.m. in the high school gym. This is for anyone age 16 and up and the fee is $3 per night.

Financial Aid night

The Kellilher School will be hosting a Financial Aid Night for seniors and their parents Jan. 30 at 6:30 p.m. at the Kelliher School. This is open to all neighboring schools, seniors and their parents.

Stephanie Bard, Financial Aid Counselor from BSU, will be present to walk us through the changes in the FAFSA-Free Application For Student Aid-that all seniors must fill out to receive financial aid to attend college. She will also give individual help as needed.

This is your opportunity to recieve the latest information on applying for financial aid.

Community Ed

Zumba will be held every Wednesday night from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the little gym. This class is free of charge.

Northome Calendar

Book club meets in January

The Northome Library book club will not be meeting in December. It will come together again Jan. 18 at 7 p.m. at the libary to discuss The Lady Elizabeth by Alison Weir.

About Students

Oakland Junior High School, Stillwater School District, students of the month for December were Nick Jacko of Woodbury and Brent Barclay of Afton.

Jacko is the son of Debbie Nipp Jacko and Barclay is the son of John Barclay, both are graduates of Blakcduck High School.

Grandparents are Edith Nipp and Jackie Barclay, both of Blackduck.
