SHARE YOUR STORY: Nearly 20 years ago, Halloween blizzard proved to be one of state's worst
Twenty years ago this Monday, one of the worst storms of the 20th century nearly paralyzed travel throughout Minnesota.
The Halloween storm made life miserable for trick-or-treaters and brought an unusually tough, and early, start to the winter season.
In Bemidji, 12 to 14 inches of snow fell, while more than 28 inches fell in Minneapolis and nearly 37 inches dropped in Duluth.
Windchills and deep snowdrifts closed roads for days during one of the largest and longest lasting blizzards in state history.
