Hockey Day is coming to Bemidji; 13th annual event set for winter 2019

Week of Oct. 4-7

TUESDAY, Oct. 4 - Soft tortilla shell with chicken strips, lettiuce, cheese and salsa, corn, fresh grapes, bread slice, milk variety.

WEDNESDAY, Oct. 5 - Tomato soup, The Max cheese sticks, carrot sticks and broccoli, peaches, bread slice, milk variety.

THURSDAY, Oct. 6 - BBQ riblet, Drake fries, green beans, rosy applesauce. pink ribbon cake, bread slice, milk variety.

FRIDAY, Oct. 7 - Spaghetti pasta, meat sauce, romaine lettuce salad with ham, cheese and croutons, pineaple, bread sticks, milk variety.

Scholarships available

The following scholarships available in the high school office:

Wendy's High School Heisman: All Student-Athletes who work hard, are dedicated, and have become role models for your school's underclassmen. Online application is available at Deadline is Oct. 2.

Prudential Spirit of Community Award: All students who volunteer in their communities. Apply online at Deadline is Nov. 1.

Sports Schedule

Monday: JV football at Cass Lake at 5 p.m.

Tuesday: Seventh and eighth grade football at home against Walker at 5 p.m. and junior high and varsity volleyball in Red Lake at 5 p.m.

Thursday: Seventh and eighth grade football at home against Clearbrook at 5 p.m. and seventh and eighth grade, B team, JV and varsity volleyball in Pine River at 5 p.m.

Friday: Varsity football in Pine River at 7 p.m.

Saturday: Junior high volleyball in Laporte at 9 a.m.

Elementary family fitness fun night

Families of elementary students as well as pre-school families are welcome to attend the Elementary Family Fitness Fun Night Oct. 7 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the multi-purpose room, high school gym and commons area.

The cost is $1 per person and students must be accompanied by an adult. There is also no running around the school.

Participants will need to come in the big gym doors (#3). Concessions will be available.

Everyone is encouraged to come out and support the Elementary Fitness Fund, enjoy a fun evening with your family and friends and meet the new elementary gym teacher -- Mr. Gross!

Community Ed classes

Beginning Yoga starts Oct. 5 for six weeks from 6-7:15 p.m. The fee is $40.

Ceramic Pumpkin Canister will be held Oct. 4 and 11 from 6-8 p.m. The fee is $20.

Nutrition Tips for Seniors will be Oct. 5 at 6:30 p.m. The fee is $5.

Wednesday Night Volleyball begins Oct. 5 from 7-9 p.m. The fee is $3 per night.

Zumba will be held on Wednesdays and Fridays Oct. 7-Nov. 18 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The fee is $48.

Creating a Business Plan will be held Oct. 18 at 6 p.m. The fee is $25.

Fish Woodcarving will be held Oct. 19 at 6:30 p.m. The fee is $15.

FRIDAY, Oct. 7 - Corn dog, hashbrowns, dinner roll, California blend vegetables, pears, milk.

Play, learn and grow with your child

The Kelliher Early Childhood Family Education staff invite Kelliher area families with children ages birth to pre-kindergarten to attend "hands on" parent and child activities and a parent time to discuss the joys and concerns of parenting.

Learn more about your child and what you do every day to help your child learn and grow!

Sessions will begin Oct. 3 from 10-11:30 a.m. in the Early Childhood Classroom. Watch for future late afternoon sessions for working families.
