United Way to hold Flat Stanley Scavenger Hunt

United Way of Bemidji Area is hosting the first-ever Live United Flat Stanley Scavenger Hunt until Oct. 19. The scavenger hunt is designed as a fun, family-friendly event for individuals and team participation.

Participants will learn more about United Way, supporting businesses, and partner agencies by completing six simple activities, out of 12 possible activities, that lead them to a Live United Flat Stanley. Some of the activities involve figuring out clues to supporting businesses, touring partner agencies during the first week of October, exploring United Way's website to find a Live United Flat Stanley and then taking a picture with him in front of something in the community that represents one of United Way's focus areas, and becoming United Way's friend on Facebook. Once participants locate the Live United Flat Stanley they will get their passport stamped for the activity.

The passport is complete and the scavenger hunt is won when the participant has six stamps on a passport. Completed passports must be turned in to United Way by Oct. 19. All completed passports will be entered into a drawing for prizes donated by Paul Bunyan Communications, Pinnacle Publishing, JCPenney, Dunn Brothers, Ameripride and Hampton Inn and Suites. The drawing will be held on Live United Day, Oct. 21. Participants do not need to be present to win a prize.

The scavenger hunt is free to play. A link providing detals and registration forms is on the United Way's website,
