4 arrested for rash of Fertile, Minn., area burglaries

Four young men have been arrested in Polk County in connection with a rash of burglaries in Fertile, Minn., over the past week.

Thousands of dollars worth of electronics, prescription medications, alcohol and cash were reported stolen in 12 incidents between June 6 and today, the Polk County Sheriff's Office reported.

The suspects were targeting vehicles and garages and caused significant property damage, according to authorities.

The four men arrested Tuesday on burglary and theft charges were Roy Olvan Aune, 18, Gary, Minn.; Brandon Andrew Ellegaard, 18, Fertile; Blake Ronald Hanson, 19, Fertile; and Randy Allen Smith, 19, Beltrami, Minn.

Authorities do not believe these incidents were related to the investigation of the possible arson on an Amish farm near Fertile last week that destroyed a barn and killed three calves.
