Roy, Cynthia Booth booked at Marscon

Local writers Roy and Cynthia Booth have been named as literary guests for the 2011 Marscon science fiction and fantasy convention to be held March 4-6 at the Crowne Plaza Minneapolis International Airport Hotel & Suites in Bloomington.

The convention will feature celebrities from film and television, a masquerade, various musical acts, a dealers room, gaming, a film festival, an art show and various related panels, including writing/literary panel for which that the Booths have been recruited. The panels range from "Alternative Sherlock Holmes" to "Ask a Writer" to "How Well Does Fantasy Translate Into Television and Film?"

Roy Booth will also moderate the panel "Scriptwriting 101" lending his experience as a 53-time published playwright and six-time optioned screenwriter, along with an upcoming film project for which he is the screenwriter -- "Atlanta Nights: The Hoax, the Book, the Movie!" Joining him on the panel will be New York film producer Rachael Saltzman.

This year's literary guest of honor at the convention is four-time Hugo Award winner Lois McMaster Bujold.

The Booths own and operate Roy's Comics and Games of Downtown Bemidji. Roy Booth is a graduate of Bemidji State University's English and theater departments.
