Oct. 25, eight students from the Blackduck High School choir traveled to Duluth for the annual Duluth Honor Choir Festival. Each student learned four songs and joined over 150 students from around Minnesota to sing in a massive choir. Scholarship information

Scholarships available in the high school office are:

Minnesota Association of Townships: Juniors who plan to further their education at a college, university, or vocational school. The deadline is May 1.

North Country Health Services Auxiliary Scholarship: Seniors pursuing a career in a health related field, and not have been a previous recipient. the deadline is March 15.

Alworth Scholarship: Seniors with a score of 25 or higher on their ACT, plan on a major in math or science, and in the top 20 percent of their class. Apply online at The deadline is Jan. 15.

KFC Colonel's Scholarship: Seniors with a GPA of 2.75 or higher and pursuing a bachelors degree. Apply online at The deadline is Feb. 9.

US Bank Scholarship: Seniors attending an accredited two or four-year college next fall. Apply online at The deadline is March 31.

American Legion Auxiliary Department of Minnesota Scholarship: Seniors who are sons, daughters, grandsons, or granddaughters of a veteran. The deadline is March 15.

American Legion Auxiliary Past Presidents Health Care Scholarship: Seniors going into any health care field. The deadline is March 15.

Another month has gone by that leaves five more to go after we get back from Christmas vacation.

The Elementary is having their first ever dance Jan. 14. It's going to be in the elemen-tary gym 5:30-7:30 p.m. The cost is $3 per student and $10 for a family. Please note that all students must be accompanied by a parent (K-6th grade). Good luck with the dance.

On to sports.

Your Lady Drakes are doing well they won against Lake of the Woods Dec. 20. They have two games the week we get back from break. The first being against ClearbrookTuesday, next one Thursday against Pine River.

The wrestling team is doing well also they had their Big Bear tournament Friday and Saturday. Two wrestlers made it to the second day.

Your boy's basketball team is also doing well. They played two games last week. Thursday, they played Lake of the Woods and won. Friday, they played Littlefork and played a hard game but unfortunately lost. They have another game Jan. 7 against Pine River.

Winter Formal is Jan. 8. Tell you more about how that goes in next month's edition.
