Fire reported at Bemidji duplex
Damage from a residential fire reported Sunday afternoon on the 1000 block of Bemidji Avenue North was contained to a bedroom.
According to a press release from the Bemidji Fire Department:
The fire was reported at 2:46 p.m. by a passerby. Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke coming from the second story of an occupied two-story duplex.
No injuries were reported. The fire was contained to the front bedroom on the second floor.
The Fire Department responded with two fire engines and a ladder truck. Firefighters remained on scene about 2.5 hours.
The fire caused about $7,000 in damage to the structure and its contents.
The home is temporarily uninhabitable and occupants are being assisted by family, friends and the American Red Cross.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Bemidji Fire Department and Bemidji Police Department, however, no foul play is suspected and it appears to be accidental in nature.
The Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Bemidji Police Department and Bemidji Ambulance Service.
