Prime Time: Rachel Scott Nursing Scholarship announced

The family of Rachel Scott and the Northwest Technical College Foundation have established the Rachel Scott Nursing Scholarship available to licensed practical nurses who are advancing their education to become a registered nurses.

The memorial scholarship recognizes Rachel's dedication to nursing education as she was a member of the nursing faculty of the College of Nursing at University of North Dakota from 1972-1990.

During this time she was also a member of the faculty of the Dakota Plains Geriatric Education Center, was on the N.D. Governor's commission on Aging and the N.D. task Force on Alzheimer's disease. Rachel was the adjunct faculty member of the Peace Studies program at UND. She was awarded the Champions of Health award by Minnesota Blue Cross/Blue Shield in 2004. Rachel Scott continued her work with Alzheimer's disease by co-founding and coordinating the Alzheimer's Family Support Group in Grand Forks, N.D., from 1982-1990 and coordinating a group here in Bemidji from 1991-2009. She was a book reviewer and a featured writer for the Prime Time section of the Bemidji Pioneer.
