UPDATED: Escaped inmate spotted near Lake George

Kenneth Kosbau

Kenneth A. Kosbau, 69, of Coon Rapids and formerly of Waskish, died Oct. 8 at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Oct. 16 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Kelliher with Pastor Dan Heath officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery in Kelliher. Cease Family Funeral Home of Blackduck assisted the family with arrangements.

Pallbearers were David Leonhardt, Velmer Halama, Donny Anderson, Brian, Jeff and Craig Kosbau.

He was born April 3, 1941 in Konig Township in Waskish to August and Mae (Fairweather) Kosbau. He graduated from Kelliher High School in 1959. At the age of 18, he lost his leg in a car accident and his life would never be the same.

He married Virginia Reierson April 24, 1955 at the Nazarene Church in Kelliher and they moved to the Twin Cities where he worked with the Teamsters for 29 years. He eventually made his home in Coon Rapids and retired in 1986.

After retirement, he spent time in Osakis with his sister, at the family homestead in Waskish and at his home in Coon Rapids. He was a member of the local Teamsters union in Minneapolis. He was a member of D.U. and the NRA. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman and especially enjoyed bear hunting and spending time with his family.

He is survived by three sons, Jeffrey Kosbau of Coon Rapids, Brian (Kari) Kosbau of Nowthen and Craig Kosbau of Coon Rapids; three nieces and nephews and a brother-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his wife; Virginia in 1996; two sisters, Irene Konecny and Millie Nielson and his parents.
