Preparations are underway for Beltrami County Fair

It's time for open class exhibitors to pick out their best to bring to the fair.

The exhibitor guide is online at or hard copies are available at some businesses and in the box outside the Beltrami County Fair Office door. Entry day is from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, for static exhibits. Entry day for livestock is Thursday, July 29. Organizers ask exhibitors to complete a pre-registration form and mail it to Beltrami County Agricultural Assoc. at P.O. Box 1057, Bemidji, MN 56619. Judging for open class static exhibits is closed to the public; however, livestock judging is open to the public and the schedule is posted online.

Marilyn Shutter Country Stage will feature free entertainment during the fair, including a Kid's Talent Show 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 28. For details on the Talent Show, contact Peggy at 368.6831. For schedules check the website.

Gopher State Expositions offers half-price pre-sale tickets at the two Lueken's stores and online. Forty tickets cost $20. Arm bands will be available at the fair 6-10 p.m. Wednesday, noon-5 p.m. Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday.

Events for 4-H are scheduled every day of the fair. Check the website for details.

The Judy Pittman memorial Tiny Tots Horse Show will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Horse Arena. The North Star Riders Barrel run will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday. At 9 a.m. Friday the 4-H Horse Performance and Game Shows will begin and at 5:30 p.m. the Draft Horse Halter Classes will be shown. The Draft Horse Harness Classes will be at 9 a.m. Saturday and the Open Horse Show will be Sunday.

In the Dog Arena showmanship will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, proceeded by Obedience Demo. From 1-4 p.m. Saturday, the Paul Bunyan Dog Training Association, Paws All About It, will present Agility Demo, Agility Games, Fly Ball Demo, Drill Team, Free Style Demos and Meet the Breed. At 10 a.m. Sunday, 4-H Agility will be held, preceded by obedience demo.

A new Grand Stand events this year will be the Open Horse and Pony Pull at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Other Grand Stand events will be Motocross at 7 p.m. Thursday, Triple B Rodeo at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and Demolition Derby at noon Sunday.
