Harriet Margaret (Uran) Griffith, 100, of Northome, died June 9, 2010 at the Northome Care Center in Northome.
Funeral services were held June 14 at Hope Lutheran Church in Northome with the Rev. Roy Johnson officiating. Burial was in Forest Hill Cemetery in Northome. Cease Family Funeral Home of Blackduck assisted the family with arrangements.
Honorary pallbearers were the staff at the Northome HealthCare Center.
Active pallbearers were Chet Frenzel, Gary Fisher, Steve Heald, Don Luckenbill, Bob Malterud, Walt Breeze, Delmer Anderson and Joe Storzbach.
She was born Nov. 1, 1909 in Thief River Falls to Jonas George Holt and Anna (Prestebak) Holt. She moved to the Mizpah-Northome area. She graduated from high school in 1929. She married John Uran, Jr. June 22, 1932 in Mizpah. They owned and he operated a garage and gas station and a Chevrolet dealership. After her husband died in September of 1957, she then worked as a waitress at the Northome Hotel and was a clerk at the Northome Post Office. She married Freeman Griffith Dec. 22, 1973 in Northome.
She enjoyed entertaining people in her home, baked goods for people and shared her flowers with others. She also loved visiting the nursing home, singing for funerals and weddings and was also a Girl Scout leader. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Northome.
She is survived by two sons, George (Elocile) Uran of Mayflower, AR and Richard "Dick" (Kathleen "Bunny") Uran of Redding, CA; a daughter, Anita (Neil) Kamp of Tioga, N.D.; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; a sister, Ardyth Strand of Plymouth; her four sons and families and numerous other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jonas George and Anna Holt; her husband, John Uran; an infant son, Marlin; her second husband, Freeman Griffith; a sister, Ardith Gertrude Holt and three brothers, Harold Sivert Holt, Chester Holt and Orbin Holt.
