Blood drive is success

A total of 56 people volunteered to donate blood and 43 were able to give during Blackduck's high school blood drive. Twelve people gave blood on the automated 2RBC machine which collects two units of red blood cells during the donation, so a total of 55 products were collected. Fourteen of the donors gave for their first time!

The National Honor Society coordinated and sponsored the drive and assisted with recruiting donors, publicity, providing refreshments and registering donors. Space to hold the drive was provided at Blackduck High School.

Donations will help meet the blood needs of many patients in 71 area hospitals served by United Blood Services. Blood is for sharing -- you have truly given the "Gift of Life."
