Updated: Cass Lake-Bena falls at state tournament

The Cass Lake-Bena boys basketball team saw its season come to an end Thursday afternoon as the Panthers fell to Minnesota Transitions Academy 69-47 in quarterfinal action of the Class A state tournament at Williams Arena.

CL-B, which finished the season 26-5, trailed 8-0 early and never caught up. Minnesota Transitions forged a 31-16 lead at the break and expanded the cushion to 36-16 but Cass Lake-Bena used a 15-4 run to draw within 40-31 with 12 minutes remaining.

The Wolves, however, regained control with a 6-0 spurt and CL-B never threatened again.

Tyler Trosen ended his career with 19 points while fellow Cass Lake-Bena senior Ben Cameron added 12. No other Panther, however, scored more than six.
