Funding for government lapses as short-term spending bill stalls in the Senate

Week of March 16-19

TUESDAY, March 16 - Corndogs, oven fries, ketchup and mustard, California medley and cheese, pineapple, bread slice, milk variety.

WEDNESDAY, March 17 - Chicken nuggets, mashed potatoes, gravy, varrots, mandarin oranges, ranch dressing and BBQ, dinner roll, milk variety.

THURSDAY, March 18 - Italian dunkers, cheesy bread, green beans, peaches, bread slice, milk variety.

FRIDAY, March 19 - Cheese pizza, garden salad, cheese croutons, ranch and french dressing, corn, rosy applesauce, Scooby Doo grahams, milk variety.

Scholarship info

The following scholarship information is available in the high school office:

• Blandin Foundation Education Awards: Anyone under the age of 25 as of Sept. 1 and plan on attending, any accredited educational institution in the United States. Deadline is May 1.

• Vernon J. Pick Foundation Scholarships: Seniors planning full-time college study in one of the general areas of sciences, mathematics, or engineering. Applicants have a GPA of at least 3.25 and a ACT score of 27 or higher. Deadline is March 30.

• Knights of Columbus: Senior Catholic Students. Deadline is April 1.

• Stuff T.EA.C.H. Early Childhood Minnesota's Judy Lindman Scholarship: Seniors who have shown improvement or success and plan on attending a Minnesota State accredited community and/or technical college in an associate's degree program majoring in early childhood education or child development. Deadline is March 15.

• Mike Staples Memorial Scholarship: Seniors pursuing post-secondary education in natural resource areas or criminal justice area or other related careers. Deadline is April 15.

• Blackduck Community Fund Scholarship: Seniors from Blackduck High School attending a four-year college or university and demonstrating high academic achievement and involvement and positive leadership qualities. Deadline is April 15.

• P.E.O. STAR Scholarship: Seniors and junior women who exhibit excellence in leadership, extracurricular activities, community service, academics and potential for future success. Also, must have a GPA of 3.0 to 4.0. Deadline is Oct. 1.

Community Ed

Ceramic Baskets will be held March 15 and 22 from 6:30 p.m. The fee is $15 payable to Community Ed and $15 payable to the instructor.

Beaded Rosettes will be held March 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the commons. The fee is $12.

Small Willow Basket Making will be held March 25 at 6:30 p.m. in the commons. The fee is $20.

Adult Basic Education is held Wednesdays at 4:45 p.m. at the Blackduck Resource Center.

Wednesday Night Volleyball is held at 7 p.m. in the high school gym. The fee is $3 per night.

TUESDAY, March 16 - Chicken strips, potato wedges, California blend vegetables, whole wheat dinner roll, pears, milk.

WEDNESDAY, March 17 - Cheeseburger, french fries, baked beans, lime Jell-O poke cake with whipped cream, milk.

THURSDAY, March 18 - Homemade pizza burger,tator tots, green beans, apple, milk.

FRIDAY, March 19 - Tortellini soup, crackers, grilled cheese sandwich, peanut butter cookie, mixed fruit, milk.

Community Ed

Aerobics will be held Monday-Wednesday from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the school gym. Bring a towel.

Open gym is Sundays from 3-5 p.m. The cost is $1 per person or $5 per family.
