Bada Bing hearing scheduled for February 16

The Bemidji City Council voted 5-0 Tuesday to set a public hearing for Feb. 16, during a regular council meeting, for the consideration of a suspension of Bada Bing's liquor license.

The possible 6-day license suspension was requested by Bemidji Police Chief Gerald Johnson after officers responded at 2 a.m. Jan. 3 to the establishment and found people consuming alcohol after hours, according to a memorandum from City Attorney Al Felix in the agenda packet.

Eleven individuals were found consuming alcohol. Three employees were present.

Bemidji City Code states that the council may revoke or suspected an on-sale liquor license for up to 60 days for any reasonable cause.

However, the licensee must first be afforded the opportunity to appear for a hearing before the council, a council committee or hearing examiner.
