Week of Jan. 12-15

TUESDAY, Jan. 12 - Cheeseburger, baked beans, dill pickle slices, ketchup, mustard, baked chips, mixed fruit, milk variety.

WEDNESDAY, Jan. 13 - Popcorn chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, peas, pears, fat free Ranch or BBQ sauce, bread slice, milk variety.

THURSDAY, Jan. 14 - Beef taco meat, baked Doritos, lettuce, cheese, salsa, fat free sour cream, corn, peaches, bread slice, milk variety.

Scholarships available

Washington Crossing Foundation: Seniors who are history buffs, enjoy politics, or are interested in government or military service. Visit: Deadline is Jan. 15.

Farm Credit Service Scholarship: Seniors who are from an actively farming or ranching family OR are planning to pursue an agricultural degree. Deadline is March 1.

KFC Colonel's Scholarship: Seniors with a GPA of 2.75 or higher and are pursuing a bachelors degree. Apply online at Deadline is Feb. 10.

US Bank Internet Scholarship: Seniors attending an accredited two or four-year college next fall. Apply online at Deadline is Feb. 28.

America Legion Auxiliary Department of Minnesota Scholarship: Seniors who are sons, daughters, grandsons, or granddaughters of a veteran. Deadline is March 15.

National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association: Seniors who have a minimum GPA of B+ average, participated in two sports for at least two years in each, and one varsity letter in each of two sports. Deadline is Feb. 28.

North Country Health Services Auxiliary Scholarship: Seniors pursuing a career in a health related field, and not have been a previous recipient. Deadline is March 15.

AXA Achievement Community Scholarship: Seniors who show ambition and drive, respect for self, family and community, and ability to succeed in college. Download an application at Deadline is Feb. 15.

Foundation of Rural Service: Seniors with at least a C grade point average, receive telecommunications service from Paul Bunyan Telephone and plan on returning to work in a rural area after graduation. Deadline is March 1.

Alworth Scholarship: Seniors with a score of 25 or higher on their ACT, plan on a major in math or science, and in the top 20 percent of their class. Apply online at Deadline is Jan. 15.

Body by Milk: Seniors at the top of their game when it comes to academics, sports and community service. Apply online at: Deadline is March 5.

Minnesota Association of Townships: Juniors who plan to further their education at a college, university, or vocational school. Deadline is May 1.

Sports Schedule

Monday: Girls junior high and JV basketball at 5 p.m. at home against Indus.

Tuesday: Boys junior high, JV and varsity basketball at 6 p.m. at home against Deer River; wrestling match at 6 p.m. in The Roadcrew in Pine River.

Thursday: Boys junior high basketball at 5:30 p.m. in Walker and girls junior high basketball at 5 p.m. at home against Bemidji.

Friday: Boys and girls JV and varsity basketball at 6 and 7:30 p.m. at home against Walker; varsity wrestling at 4 p.m. in Mahnomen.

Saturday: JV and varsity wrestling at 10 a.m. in at the Rick Lee in Bemidji.



Week of Jan. 11-15

MONDAY, Jan. 11 - Sausage pizza, California blend vegetables, pasta salad, peanut butter and jelly sandwich, pears, milk.

TUESDAY, Jan. 12 - Macaroni and cheese, green beans, dinner roll, salami sandwich, strawberry short cake, milk.

WEDNESDAY, Jan. 13 - Chicken patty on a bun, seasoned diced potatoes, peas and carrots, peaches, milk.

THURSDAY, Jan. 14 - BBQ pulled pork on a bun, criss cut fries, baked beans, pineapple, milk.

FRIDAY, Jan. 15 - Hamburger gravy, mashed potatoes, corn, bread slice, yogurt, milk.

Financial aid night set

The Kelliher Public School will be hosting a financial aid meeting Jan. 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the school.

It will be held in the high school math classroom and is open to all Kelliher, Northome and Blackduck area seniors and their families. BSU Financial Aid Counselor Stephanie Bard will be in attendance to speak to the filing and preparation of the FAFSA and will answer questions as needed. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Community Ed

Guitar Lessons will begin Jan. 19 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. and will run for six sessions. The fee is $5 per session and you must pre-register by Jan. 13.

Scrapbooking will begin Jan. 21 from 4-6 p.m. There is no cost if you bring your own project or $8-$16 if you want to complete a paper album. Register by Jan. 11 so materials can be ordered.

3-D Archery Shoot will be held Mondays starting Jan. 18 at 6 p.m. League starts Feb. 1 and will consist of two man teams. This is for anyone ages 12 and up but minors must be accompanied by an adult. The cost is $95 for the season for members or $9.50 per night. For non-members, the cost is $120 for the season or $12 per night. Archers will met in the Old School Center.

Aerobics will be held Monday-Wednesday from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the school gym. Bring a towel.

Open gym is Sundays from 3-5 p.m. The cost is $1 per person or $5 per family.
