Beltrami County 4-H endowment initiated
Beltrami County 4-H was established almost 100 years ago. The long term success of this youth development organization is due to motive youth and dedicated adult leaders/volunteers continuing to build successful and fun learning opportunities.
Jean Castle recently gifted $5,000 to Beltrami County 4-H to be matched to establish the first Beltrami County specific 4-H Endowment. "4-H is more than a building or a county fair, it is groups of youth and adults cooperating to form mini communities where specialized learning takes place" said Castle.
The Endowment will be administered by the Minnesota 4-H Foundation through the University of Minnesota. The Minnesota 4-H Foundation was established in 1960 to provide support for Minnesota's 4-H programs.
The Beltrami County 4-H council is made up of 4-H youth and leaders from all 16 clubs in Beltrami County.
This Beltrami County Specific Endowment will help sustain the longer term success of Beltrami County 4-H. "4-H was a driving force in my youth and also later in my career as an extension agent", said Castle, she wants to do her part to secure another 100 years of successful youth development through Beltrami County 4-H. Castle expressed this was the perfect time to make an end of year gift as a tax deduction.
Contributions to match the initial funds will help secure the Beltrami County 4-H Endowment and a sustainable future. Endowments are accumulative and contributions of every size make a difference. Castle looks forward to hearing of the growth of the endowment funds and hosting an appreciation event for those that join her in contributing to the long term success of Beltrami County 4-H.
