Man shot in Beltrami County

A 27-year-old Kelliher man was found shot Tuesday morning in Shooks Township in Beltrami County.

According to a press release from the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office:

The Sheriff's Office responded to a residence and found Matthew David Albert suffering from a gunshot wound. Albert was alive, but unconscious.

He was taken by Blackduck Ambulance to a landing site, from where North Memorial Air Care took him to North Memorial Hospital in Minneapolis. As of 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, Albert was in very critical condition, according to a report from the hospital.

An investigation is ongoing between the Sheriff's Office and Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. Foul play has not been ruled out.

Also responding to the scene was Kelliher Fire-Rescue.
