Men involved in Beltrami County shooting are identified
The two men involved in a Thursday shooting in Beltrami County have been identified.
According to the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office:
Thomas Patrick Peterson, 23, of Anoka, Minn., was shot by Gregory Robert Kolinski, 59, of Andover, Minn., as the two men were among four individuals hunting grouse in a party of four hunters in the North Beltrami Unorganized Townships area north of Fourtown.
Kolinski admitted firing his shotgun at a flushed grouse in a thicket when Peterson was struck by shotgun pellets.
The shooting, which occurred Thursday afternoon, is believed to be accidental.
Peterson was initially transported to a hospital in Warroad, Minn., and then transferred to North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji, where he was stabilized and flown to the University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis via North Air Ambulance.
Peterson is in stable condition.
The incident is under investigation by the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office and Lake of the Woods Sheriff's Office.
