The Bemidji State University Center for Research and Innovation will present Exposed Energized Electrical Hazard Training, a Northern Minnesota Safety Council course on working with electrical hazards.

The course will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, at the CRI, Suite 4. The instructor will be Steve Veitor of Riverland Community College. The cost of $25 includes lunch.

Qualified personnel who are exposed to electrical hazards of 50 volts or more as part of their job responsibilities are required to undergo training on working in safe electrical conditions. The course will include topics such as identification of electrical hazards, lockout/tagout procedures, how to determine and evaluate incident energy and boundary distances and the proper use of personal protective equipment.

The course is targeted at the electrician, technician or maintenance employee who may be asked to work exposed to electrical conductors or circuit parts that have not been put into an electrical safe work condition.
