Valencia Marie (Oza-wa-kaa-dok-kwe - Yellow Cloud Woman) Van Pelt, 3, of Mahnomen, died Friday, Oct. 31, 2008, at North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji.

Traditional funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Naytawaush Sports Center in Naytawaush. A wake will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Naytawaush Sports Center, and will continue until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Lorin Lee Stone Memorial Burial Grounds in Federal Dam.

Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji assisted the family with arrangements.

The pallbearers will be Earl Jack, John Butler Jr., Greg Guy, Christopher Stone, James Gellings Jr. and Joe Campbell Sr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Norman Van Pelt, Myron Jack, Tina Van Pelt, Timothy Stone, Jon Stone, Jeremy Smith, Joe Campbell Jr. and Lorin Stone II.

She was born April 19, 2005, to Lynette Stone and Robert Van Pelt Jr. in Detroit Lakes. She was always a happy little girl. She enjoyed watching movies over and over, especially "Shrek." She loved to read books with her mother. Her favorite foods were pizza and sliced apples. She always loved playing with her grandparent's dog.

She is survived by her parents of Mahnomen; maternal grandmother, Marie Stone of Mahnomen; paternal grandmother, Frances Dentz of Bemidji; grandfather, Greg Guy of Bemidji; paternal great-grandmother, Beverly Foster of Makonce, Minn.; paternal great-grandfather, Peter Beaulieu of Bemidji; aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Robert Van Pelt Sr.; maternal great-grandmother, Bernadine Stone; paternal great-grandmother, Shirley Ann Butler (Skinaway); and paternal great-grandparents Frederick and Madeline Murray.
