Mary Jane "Jane" Gardner (Drake), 74, of Blue Grass, Iowa, died Friday, May 16, 2008, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, Iowa.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Runge Mortuary in Davenport, Iowa.

She was born April 8, 1934, to Alice Black Drake and Wayne Drake in Imogene, Iowa. She was a graduate of Des Moines Technical High School and attended Drake University, where she obtained her Associate in Arts degree. She married F. Robert "Bob" Gardner June 3, 1953, at University Christian Church in Des Moines, Iowa. She was a commercial artist at Warren Litzenberger and Warren Anderson, where she worked her way up to vice president before retiring. After retirement, she was employed part time by the City of Blue Grass. She enjoyed singing with her family and playing the piano. She also enjoyed playing cards, playing bridge and playing games. She had a raucous sense of humor and would never pass up an offer of chocolate.

She is survived by her husband; son, Dr. Bob (Phyllis) Gardner of Paynesville, Minn.; daughter, Linda (Tom) Dodd of Davenport; daughter, Kathy (Bill) Faver of Bemidji and Anne (Rick) Fonda York, Pa.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The family requests memorials to the American Cancer Society.
