Lawsuit against publisher delayed
No ruling was made Friday on the lawsuit filed by Michael Garbow seeking a temporary injunction against Bill Lawrence, the publisher of the Native American Press/Ojibwe News.
Garbow, the recently fire Leech Lake legal director, had asked Beltrami County District Judge John Melbye to prevent Lawrence from publishing unsigned letters in the newspaper that make allegations against Garbow's profession and personal life.
A hearing on the injunction was held Friday morning. Melbye ruled that Garbow had not properly served Lawrence notice of the lawsuit, Garbow said Friday afternoon.
Garbow must now reserve Lawrence before the suit can continue, he said.
