Hubbard County investigating possible homicide

The Hubbard County Sheriff's Office is investigating a possible homicide.

A woman, who has not been identified, was found dead before 4 a.m. Tuesday on the 15900 block of Discovery Circle on the southeast edge of Park Rapids, according to a press release from the Hubbard County Sheriff's Office.

A suspect, Richard Derek Wright, 40, of Belleville, Mich., has been arrested, the release said. He remains in custody pending formal charges.

The Sheriff's Office received a 911 call at 3:42 a.m. Tuesday from a female asking for assistance on the 15900 block of Discovery Circle, the release said.

Upon deputies' arrival they found a female fighting with Wright in a driveway, the release said.

The female told deputies she had entered the residence and found an unresponsive woman in the living room in the home, the release said.

The female was then confronted by Wright, the release said.

The woman's body has been transferred to the Ramsey County medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy to determine a cause of death, the release said.

The case remains under investigation by the Hubbard County Sheriff's Office and Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
