Police identify bank robbery suspect who killed himself

STILLWATER, Minn. (AP) _ Police have identified the bank robbery suspect who they say shot and killed himself in the parking lot of a Stillwater hospital.

Authorities say 53-year-old Alfred Josiah Knodle of Fargo, North Dakota, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head after a police chase Wednesday.

Police in Hudson, Wisconsin, responded to a report of an armed robbery at Associated Bank. After Wisconsin dispatchers notified authorities in Minnesota, the Stillwater Police were able to stop the suspect, who is now being identified as Knodle.

According to a news release from the Hudson Police Department, investigators believe Knodle was also responsible for a robbery at Citizens Bank on Oct. 26.
