Anthony Wade Hegstrom, (Maka da Makwa - Black Bear) 19, of Redby, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007, in Red Lake.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Red Lake with the Rev. Pat Sullivan officiating. A wake will begin at noon today at the Red Lake Center and will continue until the funeral on Friday. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Red Lake under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.

Pallbearers will be Ronald Hegstrom, Mike Donnell, Stan Cook, Bobby Donnell, Dan Cook, Frank Parkhurst, Courtney Whitefeather, Keith Donnell, Irv Sayers, Aaron May, Joe Good, Julius Thunder, Gary Auginash Jr., Kyle Garrigan and Ron Cobenais Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wendell, Richard, Duane, Kevin Sr., Kevin Jr., Kari, LaNae, Sheila and Julie Cook; Mike Sr., Mike Jr., Louie, Charlie, Lola, Kristen, Marla and Sondra Hegstrom; Eddy Fairbanks, Shane Garrigan and Rod and Jeremy Cournoyer.

He was born Jan. 24, 1988, to Ronald Hegstrom and Donna J. Cook in Bemidji. He attended Red Lake Elementary School and Red Lake Middle School. In 2006, he graduated from Minot High School in North Dakota.

He loved his newfound hobby of making music with his friends. He found it as a vent for frustrations and a positive replacement for the negative things in life. He loved spending time with family and friends. He had ample humor and charisma. He liked reading books and learning new things.

He is survived by his mother; father; sisters, Lola Hegstrom, Kristin Hegstrom, Deawndra and Leawndra Cook; grandparents, Thern Hegstrom, Anna Auginash and Henry Cook; one niece and special friend, Vanessa Cobenais.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
