North Country Urology to close
North Country Urology will close at the end of June - exactly one year from when it opened.
Located inside North Country Regional Hospital, 1300 Anne St. N.W., the clinic opened July 1, 2006.
According to its Web site, North Country Urology offered "assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of urologic disorders in men, women and children."
Drs. Robert Glesne, Patrick Kavaney and Frank Labadie practiced at the clinic.
The decision to close its urology clinic was made due to a "combination of a number of events and circumstances," said Jim Hanko, the president and CEO of North Country Health Services.
"Recruiting for additional urologists to allow the clinic to remain open is an enormous challenge as it is one of the most difficult specialties to recruit in the nation," said a press release from NCHS,
Hanko said NCHS discussed with Glesne, Kavaney and Labadie the possibility of establishing a private practice and having NCHS serve as their landlord, but they decided to "move on with their lives."
Current North Country Urology patients have been given information about area practices, according to NCHS.
